Resolved Issue

This section describes an important resolved issue in Wonderware Intelligence 2014 R2 P01 (v.2.0.001). The following list is not a comprehensive list of all resolved issues.

L00136962: HF CR L0013811 SR 52310442: An issue occurs if the Intelligence Server user does not have sysadmin permissions. The following error may appear in the ArchestrA Logger: "System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): An error occurred in the Microsoft .NET Framework while trying to load assembly id 65536. The server may be running out of resources, or the assembly may not be trusted with PERMISSION_SET = EXTERNAL_ACCESS or UNSAFE. Run the query again, or check documentation to see how to solve the assembly trust issues."

With this patch, the user account of the Wonderware Intelligence service is no longer required to be a member of the SQL Server sysadmin fixed server role. As long as the same user account is not shared by other software that requires being a member of the sysadmin fixed server role, the membership of this role can be removed after the patch has been completely installed and configured.

Wonderware Intelligence 2014 R2 (v.2.0) Readme

Last revision: 04/22/2015

About This Readme

This document contains important information about Wonderware® Intelligence 2014 R2 (v.2.0). Review this document for Product enhancements and new features, system requirements and compatibility, resolved issues and known issues in this version and changes, if any, to the Intelligence software documentation included on this CD.

Use the following links to navigate to the various sections of this Readme:

About this Release

With the release of Wonderware Intelligence 2014 R2 (v.2.0), the following list of new features and enhancements are introduced.

  • The Intelligence Measure tables are now populated in a 'Reversed Backfill' manner, i.e., the measure will start processing current data in the ‘forward’ direction and older data will fill in from current time until it reaches the configured backfill date. This allows the end user to have current data visibility immediately, while the backfill proceeds in parallel.
  • Support for common Reporting infrastructure. This infrastructure relies on the Intelligence Services and Data Store to deliver a central reporting database that can be used by reporting, dashboard, and analysis tools. This reporting framework provides a utility called Intelligence Model Deployment that allows you to deploy a predefined Intelligence Model delivered by other products such as Wonderware MES. In this scenario the ArchestrA IDE is not required to build and deploy an Intelligence Model. This model currently supports only one data source but can have one or more dimensions, and zero or more measures.
  • When measures are updated, the rows affected by the "Update" period are calculated and stored in a temporary table. The data store is updated only when all calculations are ready. This drastically reduces the amount of time during which current data is unavailable in the data store.
  • Direct connectivity of Tableau software to the underlying data sources of the Intelligence model. For example, if the Intelligence Model uses Wonderware MES as a data source, the Analytics Client and Dashboard Server may connect directly to the MES database for viewing detailed data from the MES database (typical drill-down scenario). Direct access to data sources not used in the Intelligence Model is a violation of the license agreement.
  • Upon certain changes to the configuration of a measure (for example, the addition of a calculation), you can now keep the data already accrued in the measure table (assuming you click "No" when prompted to remove data when you deploy/undeploy the measure). The system will then add a column to the measure table for the new calculation and populate that column with data from the time of deployment (no backfill of data for the newly added calculation).
  • You can now optionally disable the majority of non-clustered indexes on measure tables, allowing for faster backfilling and reduced disk space usage. Once backfill is completed, you can selectively re-enable the indexes that will help your client applications. For more information, see Advanced Performance Settings in the Wonderware Intelligence Administration Guide.
  • New look and feel of the installer and the Configurator Utility to enhance the user experience.
  • Support for 64-bit server operating systems only. This results in major performance improvements which allows faster processing of dimensions and measures.
  • Improved security features to reduce cyber vulnerabilities.
  • This version of Wonderware Intelligence leverages the new Schneider Electric Licensing system to provide a simplified license management experience.

Deprecated Feature

The following features are now deprecated in Wonderware Intelligence 2014 R2 (v.2.0).

  • Intelligence Client
  • The OSISoft PI Server data adapter is not delivered in this release. As such upgrades of models from prior versions of Wonderware Intelligence to Wonderware Intelligence 2014 R2 (v.2.0) are not supported. Please contact Schneider Electric Software Product Marketing if you plan to use the OSISoft PI Server data adapter.

Licensing

Wonderware Intelligence Licensing

This release of Wonderware Intelligence enforces licensing through the new Schneider Electric Licensing system.

For more information regarding the Licensing of Wonderware Intelligence, see the Schneider Electric License Server Guide available at the following location in the system where Schneider Electric Licensing is installed: All Programs -> Schneider Electric -> Schneider Electric License Manager User Guide.

Tableau Component Licensing

The Analytics Client (Tableau Desktop) and Dashboard Server (Tableau Server) versions shipped with Wonderware Intelligence are allowed to access data only from the Wonderware Intelligence data store and data sources used in the Intelligence model (Drill-down scenario for example). Using the Analytics Client outside of those boundaries is a violation of the license agreement.

The Wonderware Intelligence software enforces licensing for the Analytics Client through license keys provided by Wonderware, on your license certificate. When you first start the Analytics Client, a software activation window prompts you to enter the license key. The same applies for the Dashboard Server.

Resolved Issues

This section describes important resolved issues. The following list is not a comprehensive list of all resolved issues.

L00131010: HF CR L00130481: Issue related to the SQL Server running out of pooled connections is resolved by adding new configuration setting that enables the customer to specify the maximum pool size for database connections.
L00131054: HF CR L00130376: Measure is processed and recorded for the entire shift period, instead of scheduled time slice. This issue is fixed.
L00133450: HF CR L00131490: Measure backfills returns a timeout error after a certain amount of data has already been backfilled.
L00129165: HF CR L00128553: Timeout encountered while deploying large number of measures or dimensions.
L00121506: HF CR L00120757: Advanced calculation editor is fixed and allows mapping to a dimension in context.
L00121065: HF CR L00120920: The execution of stored procedure "sp_CompareDimensionRecords" throws the following error: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.
L00122672: HF CR L00119135: Modification of a measure configuration, specifically calculations can result in deletion of all data in the measure table.
L00127599: HF CR L00120638: Pre-requisite validation for SQL connectivity to the Database results in error as it validates the presence of the MS-SQL 2008 client only.

< top of document >

Known Issues

L00102948: If you import a model using .csv, and the model includes dimensions that have filters, the objects will be in an error state after you validate them.

To work around this issue, open the Dimension object, go to the Filter tab, slightly modify the filter expression (for example, add a space at the end), and then validate the expression. After you save and check in the object, the object will no longer be in an error state.

L00108588: Measure records will get a valid context reference only when both the dimension key field's data type and measure source field's data type in the measure relation are the same. If they are not of the same data type, then 0 (meaning no matching record found) is assigned as the context reference for the measure record. This issue mainly occurs when you are using any numeric data type as a key dimension field.
L00109411: A data source custom query must not include an ORDER BY clause in the syntax. Although the validation and data preview succeed, data will not be processed at run time.
L00110814: If you attempt to view a custom query in an instance of a DataSource object in the ArchestrA IDE version 3.1 SP3 or later, the IDE stops responding. To work around this issue, view the custom query in the object template, not the instance.
L00114494: If you undeploy an object too quickly after you deploy it, you may get a run-time error. Wait for the initial execution to finish (you will see the data in the corresponding measure table) and then try undeploying again.
L00115066: When you change only the priority of a source data item using the Select Source Data Items dialog box for a dimension, the object is not marked as updated. Even after you redeploy the object, the old configuration is retained. Make sure that you have performed some other configuration (for example, edit the description) so that the asterisk appears next to the object name and you are prompted to save the object.
L00115753: If you lock the Data Adapter Type list in a DataSource object derived template, changes to the available adapter list performed at the derived template level are not propagated to the instance object. Because the DataAdapterTypes attribute contains an incorrect list, this causes errors if you set/retrieve the DataAdapterType attribute for the instance object. To work around this issue, do not lock the Data Adapter Type list.
L00135838: Wonderware Intelligence 2014 R2 (v.2.0) does not support DateTime2 SQL Server data types. The workaround is to cast Datetime2 to Datetime. For more information, see https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb677335.aspx.
L00136275: If you connect to an incorrect Wonderware Historian in the Data Source and then try to connect to the correct Wonderware Historian, the logger continuously logs warning messages that it is still unable to connect to the incorrect Historian.

Workaround: You must restart the Wonderware Intelligence Data Adapter service to stop the warning messages in the SMC logger.

L00136325: If a measure is undeployed while it is busy processing calculation, the following errors/warnings will be returned in the SMC logger: "ExecuteMeasureBackfill() failed unexpectedly. Retry measure backfill Measure [name of measure]." You can ignore these messages.
L00136408: When you import a model in ArchestrA IDE set on a different Operating System language than the original creation language, the Data Source time zone is not set properly and can cause issues during model deployment.

Workaround: After importing the model, make sure to remap the Data Source(s) time zone in the Connection tab of the Data Source object.
